Abstract

Gastrointestinal stromal tumor is one of the types of cancer in these organs, especially the stomach and small intestine. It causes symptoms such as abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting, and reluctance to eat. Surgery is usually recommended for its treatment. Sometimes targeted drug treatment is used. Gastrointestinal stromal tumor is a type of cancer that occurs mostly in the stomach and small intestine. But most of the time, GIST is malignant. Benign and malignant GIST are mostly found in the stomach and small intestine; But it can also occur in other parts of the digestive system. This cancer starts from a special type of nerve cells. These cells are called interstitial cells. Sometimes cancer cells may arise from the precursors of these cells. A stromal tumor or several tumors may appear in the digestive tract. Usually, this disease is common in people between 40 and 70 years old. This cancer is less common in children and young people.
